That National Review article misses a big point: the "counter-recruiting" movement on most campuses today (in contrast to, say, the Vietnam-era anti-ROTC movement) is not about telling people not to serve, but about protesting against discrimination in opportunities to serve. The Ivy League schools' "war" on Pentagon recruiting is about the Pentagon's "don't ask, don't tell" policy which actually BANS some people from serving their country, however motivated they are.
The Pentagon can't say "sorry, some members of your community aren't good enough to serve our country" and then complain when other members of the community stand up with their friends and say they won't serve either.
