Heh. The CAP is non-partisan. Hehe.
I’m not sure that I care for the Quad. They blew 20 years getting the V-22 into service as it is.
Why couldn’t you take a C-130 shaped fuselage, strap a pair of high-bypass turbofans next to the cockpit like something from Antonov, and duct the majority of the thrust into a rotor hub and out a pair of rotors with large, hollow blades?
You lose the transmission and tail rotor, and can put more thrust out the back and less into the rotors while in cruise, improving range and speed. The coaxial rotors (advancing blade concept) allow you to go fast without flipping over at the wrong moment.
Seems a bit more reliable to me.
